David Stone For Immediate Release Telenetics® Announces Major Orders for Microwave Video Radios LAKE FOREST, California August 8, 2002 Telenetics Corporation (OTC-BB: TLNT), announced today that it has received two significant orders for its Racon Series of microwave video radios totaling approximately $500,000. "The Company has seen increased demand for its video radios during the past year", said Bill Kosoff, its Vice President of Sales. The larger of the two orders was received for the fabled City of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The radios will be used to expand the security system, which is used to monitor the city for safety and security each year during the city's annual religious pilgrimage. During the holy week it is estimated that over 3 million people visit Mecca for religious celebrations and services. Telenetics' microwave video radios form the backbone of the wireless network, which is used to transport hundreds of camera images to a central control center where the city's police force monitors the city for traffic, safety concerns and security threats. The Telenetics "Racon Series" radios have earned high praise for their time-tested ability to perform reliably year after year in the harsh desert climate. The second major award was the Company's first procurement on behalf of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for their asset protection program. The award follows more than a year of thorough testing and evaluation of the Telenetics' microwave video radios by the IDF in harsh radio frequency and climatic environments. These "Racon Series" radios are used to transport high quality real time video images and data control signals for remote monitoring of strategic perimeters, special "hot spots" and critical military assets. The selection of Telenetics' radios is yet another affirmation of the robust design and reliable performance of the products manufactured by Telenetics' Microwave Division. In addition to these new installations in Saudi Arabia and Israel, these same Telenetics' microwave video radios have been in continuous use in New York City for the past six years, where multiple radios and cameras are mounted high atop both the Empire State Building, and Rockefeller Center. These systems provide "broadcast quality" traffic and weather video needed by the local TV broadcasters in the New York area to serve their viewers. Telenetics believes the need to have these systems in continuous operation has never been more important. After the events of September 11, 2001, there have been new restrictions on the air space in and around Manhattan. With the new restrictions placed on helicopters and small aircraft, the traffic and news services have had to rely more than ever on the video provided by cameras and Telenetics' microwave radios. Telenetics has seen increased demand for these types of radio surveillance systems and is in the process of expanding its selling efforts by leveraging its global distribution channel that in the past had been involved only with the Sunrise Series products the Company licenses from Motorola. This global distribution network consists of top tier resellers and system integrators throughout the world that the Company believes greatly increase the market opportunities available to Telenetics' Microwave Division. The Company is also developing higher speed microwave radios for various customer applications. These products are scheduled to be introduced to the market during the fourth quarter of this year.
